PURPOSE:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Managers – Conveyors to lead and coordinate conveyor-related activities within automotive assembly plants. This role requires deep expertise in automotive assembly projects, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex schedules, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders. The position involves significant on-site presence across Detroit, Illinois, and Ohio.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the activities of internal support teams, conveyor suppliers, and interface closely with management personnel
- Spend most of the time in the Detroit area, with extended on-site assignments at plant locations in Illinois and Ohio
- Direct and maintain plant layout activities related to conveyor systems
- Prepare, maintain, and update the Master Timing Plan for all Assembly activities
- Support and coordinate scheduled plant, contractor, and OEM activities
- Assist in the preparation of meeting minutes, reports, presentations, and the organization and storage of program documentation
- Support corporate and plant staff with Early Equipment Management (EEM) requirements, including documentation and installation of new model assembly equipment
- BA/BS degree Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Equivalent combination of education and extensive professional experience will be considered
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Comprehensive understanding of all relevant engineering disciplines involved in automotive assembly projects
- Minimum 20 years of automotive assembly project experience
- Minimum 10 years of Stellantis or equivalent automotive OEM assembly project experience
- At least 7 years of advanced MS Project experience, including full integration of Excel-based schedule updates in and out of MS Project
- Strong ability to manage complex project schedules and multi-stakeholder environments
- Proven capability to work with manufacturing databases and systems, including familiarity with manufacturing equipment and processes
- Possession of all required licenses and access rights for engineering and manufacturing databases (e.g., Teamcenter – Product Data Management)
- Extensive experience managing conveyor systems within large-scale automotive assembly plants
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across corporate, plant, and supplier organizations
- High level of organizational discipline and documentation control
- Ability to work independently during extended on-site assignments
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
