PURPOSE:
The Project Manager – Data Center Construction leads the planning, execution, and delivery of mission-critical data center construction projects. The Project Manager is responsible for schedule, cost, quality, safety, and stakeholder coordination to ensure successful delivery of complex, high-availability facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage end-to-end delivery of data center building construction projects
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cash flow forecasts
- Coordinate design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities
- Manage EPCs, GCs, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors
- Oversee contract administration, change management, and risk mitigation
- Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and executive reporting
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, safety requirements, and quality standards
- Coordinate with utility providers, AHJs, and client stakeholders
- Support commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and phased turnovers
- Identify and resolve project risks related to schedule, cost, quality, and safety
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 7+ years of experience managing large commercial or industrial construction projects
- Proven experience delivering data center or mission-critical facilities
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, especially critical power and cooling infrastructure
- Experience managing complex schedules, long-lead equipment, and fast-track projects
- Strong knowledge of contract management and construction cost controls
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Professional Engineer (PE), PMP, or equivalent certification
- Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center projects
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and integrated systems testing (IST)
- Experience with phased or live data center construction
- Knowledge of BIM, scheduling (Primavera P6), and project management tools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
