PURPOSE:

Provide operations and project support for a variety of the client’s Group database technologies in the Americas region, also acting as operations & product responsible for global Group database products, platforms and tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers several critical database topics in support of the clients Group Database Infrastructure Manager for the Americas.
  • Provides operations and/or project consulting for systems requiring database infrastructure.
  • Fulfills the operations and/or product responsibility role for various client Group database platforms
  • Ensures the quality and operability of database services.
  • Maintains proper patch levels for Group database infrastructure, database tools and database hardware.
  • Participates in planning and executing database hardware migration and replacement initiatives.
  • Produces and maintains documentation relating to existing database products/solutions, and makes suggestions for improving or replacing those products/solutions.
  • Assists with structuring/guiding developers as it pertains to database directions
  • Maintains and advocates database security based on client Group standards.
  • Identifies issues within database platforms, and escalates when appropriate
  • Handles multiple tasks while switching priorities and focus as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by  operations supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent of 4 years professional Database Technology experience
  • 4+ years of professional information technology experience pertinent to database operations, program development knowledge/technologies and database architectures.
  • 3+years of supporting database systems-SQL server is a plus

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 3+ years knowledge of database system service delivery, with a strong customer focus in a complex environment (e.g. multiple deployments, large deployments).
  • 3+ years knowledge of database platform activities involving security, systems analysis, change control, maintenance and support responsibilities.
  • 3+ years organizational, problem solving and communications skills.
  • 3+ years supporting database systems on both the Windows AND Linux OS
  • 3+ years supporting/programming with database systems
  • Knowledge of operations in a global/distributed enterprise IT environment.
  • ITIL service/process knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise operations strategies and protocol
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with anyone with different skill sets, personalities, work styles,  or motivation level.
  • Ability to coordinate and solicit well represented opinions and feedback from a group with diverse perspectives to reach a common, best solution.
  • Ability to build trust, find common ground, have empathy, and ultimately build good relationships with people.
  • Knowledgeable and intermediate skills in project management

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • German Language skills both oral and written

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:

  • Location: 75% Spartanburg, SC, 15 % Hilliard, FL, 10% OTHER lOCATIONS
  • Schedule: Day Shift, 40h/weeks
  • Travel: As needed
  • Assignment Start: ASAP
