PURPOSE:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and continuous improvement of all logistical and supply chain functions, with a focus on inventory management, supplier coordination, cost reduction, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Foster a high-performance logistics culture centered on first-class customer delivery and continuous improvement.
- Oversee and resolve inventory management issues, ensuring accurate stock levels and timely replenishment to prevent shortages or excess.
- Manage logistics activities related to materials, including inbound, outbound, and internal flows.
- Oversee the performance and maintenance of KPIs across all logistics functions; implement improvements where needed.
- Ensure compliance and efficiency in all logistical documentation and supply chain processes.
- Actively collaborate with the customer to meet and exceed delivery expectations.
- Coordinate with both U.S. and foreign suppliers to ensure smooth material flow and supplier performance.
- Develop, implement, and monitor objective performance metrics for logistics activities.
- Lead warehouse reorganization initiatives to optimize flow, efficiency, and storage.
- Maintain and improve the functional capability of all logistics operations through proactive management.
- Deploy continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma) across logistics departments.
- Maintain strong, professional communication with internal teams (facility/group) and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and achieve activity plans and performance targets; implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Deliver regular cost analyses and lead cost-reduction initiatives within the supply chain.
- Ensure daily shop floor presence to oversee operations, engage with hourly teams, and identify process improvements.
- Be hands-on on the shop floor, actively observing and supporting daily logistics activities.
- Utilize SAP for all logistics and inventory processes; experience with other WMS systems is a strong plus.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and team-coaching skills to develop a capable and motivated logistics team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5–7 years of experience in a high-demand logistics or supply chain environment, including hands-on experience with materials and inventory management.
- Minimum 2 years in a mid to senior management role with proven leadership and team development capabilities.
- Proven experience in automotive manufacturing or similar high-volume industries, with a strong understanding of automotive logistics and material flow standards.
- Experience collaborating with both U.S. and international suppliers, including vendor performance management and process improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Expert-level proficiency in SAP for logistics, inventory, and materials management (must-have).
- Experience with additional Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in inventory control, stock accuracy, and process optimization.
- Demonstrated success in warehouse reorganization, layout optimization, and material flow improvement.
- Proven leadership and coaching skills, able to develop, motivate, and strengthen high-performing logistics teams.
- Solid understanding of supply chain planning, purchasing, and supplier coordination processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interface effectively across all levels.
- Results-driven mindset with strong organizational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement and cost efficiency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
- Location: Woodstock, AL
- Schedule: 3 shifts from Sunday night to Friday night, 40 hours/week
- Overtime: As needed.
- Weekend Work: As needed.
- Assignment Start: ASAP (Direct Hire)
