This position is responsible for coordinating all activities and topics with conveyor equipment supplier and the vehicle manufacturing site during planning, modification, installation, implementation, and commissioning of conveyor systems and related production equipment.
The role works closely with engineering, production, suppliers, and international project teams to coordinate conveyor and equipment activities, particularly within a brownfield environments and ongoing production. The position serves as a technical link between the manufacturing site and planning organizations, ensuring that equipment modifications and installations are properly planned, documented, coordinated, and executed with no impact to ongoing production.

PURPOSE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the planning, modification, installation, and implementation of conveyor systems and related manufacturing equipment.
- Due to brownfield environment with ongoing production all installations take place on weekends and shutdowns by suppliers.
- Key is coordinating all activities with suppliers and vehicle production prior to weekends and shutdowns.
- Work closely with engineering, production, maintenance, suppliers, and project teams to resolve technical and installation-related issues.
- Support equipment planning, including layouts, technical requirements, installation activities, and implementation schedules.
- Coordinate and monitor installation and modification activities on the production floor during weekends as needed.
- Track project progress, milestones, open issues, and required actions and provide regular status updates.
- Prepare and maintain technical project documentation, installation records, progress documentation, and project-related reports.
- Identify potential risks, delays, or technical issues and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
- Support project planning and scheduling activities while ensuring alignment between production requirements, engineering activities, and supplier work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience with conveyor systems, manufacturing equipment, or equipment planning within the automotive or comparable manufacturing industry.
- Hands-on experience supporting equipment installation, modification, or implementation.
- Experience working in brownfield environments and/or active production facilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong practical knowledge of conveyor systems and their integration into automotive manufacturing operations.
- Experience with equipment planning, installation, modification, and implementation.
- Proven ability to work effectively in ongoing production environments with multiple technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities, suppliers, and technical teams while maintaining schedules and priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of project planning and project management principles.
- Experience working at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) in Vance, AL or comparable automotive manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with conveyor systems in Assembly.
- Experience with brownfield modifications and installations during ongoing production.
- German language skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:

- Schedule: Day shift, 40h/w
- Overtime: as required
