We are currently seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. PURPOSE: 
This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure solutions from concept through deployment and ongoing operations. The role combines passive infrastructure expertise, data center operations, and IT infrastructure project management to ensure reliable, secure, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure environments.
The position will provide technical leadership for infrastructure projects, support proof-of-concept evaluations, coordinate infrastructure construction activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of IT operations. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, technically strong, and capable of managing multiple priorities with limited supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, coordinate, and support IT infrastructure projects from concept through implementation and operational handover.
  • Manage infrastructure construction activities, including fiber optic and copper cabling installation, testing, quality assurance, documentation, and infrastructure planning.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for passive IT infrastructure, data center environments, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud services, and security technologies.
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure components, including servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, network infrastructure, and related technologies.
  • Support data center operations, including infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning, availability, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure infrastructure projects are delivered according to technical, quality, schedule, and safety requirements.
  • Perform and oversee cabling testing, certification, quality inspections, and troubleshooting for fiber optic and copper infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure designs, technical documentation, configurations, installation standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure high availability through redundancy, backup, disaster recovery, and appropriate infrastructure resilience strategies.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Support ITIL processes, including change management, incident management, configuration management, and service continuity.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security policies, access controls, infrastructure standards, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with global and cross-functional IT teams to standardize processes and implement infrastructure best practices.
  • Manage complex technical projects, including scope, schedules, resources, vendors, budgets, risks, and deliverables.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including cloud-native solutions, automation, and AI-enabled IT operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members and project participants.
  • Communicate infrastructure strategies, project status, technical solutions, and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Support occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday activities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • An associate degree with relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and IT experience, may be considered.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in IT infrastructure engineering, enterprise IT, data center operations, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure project management.
  • Experience working with infrastructure construction projects, contractors, suppliers, and technical service providers.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including servers, storage, virtualization, and security technologies..
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong hands-on experience with fiber optic and copper cabling installation, testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling and passive IT infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of data center operations and infrastructure environments.
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure construction and implementation projects.
  • Knowledge of servers, storage, virtualization, backup, and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and services, including IaaS and PaaS.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning, system availability, and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including firewalls, intrusion prevention, encryption, and access controls.
  • Experience with ITIL-based processes such as change, incident, and configuration management.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile methodologies in IT infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with supplier/vendor management.
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from management.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • ITIL certification.
  • Certifications related to IT infrastructure, data center operations, networking, cabling, cloud, or IT architecture.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS storage environments.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with automation, cloud-native technologies, or AI-driven IT operations.
  • Six Sigma / Lean methodology experience.
  • 5S/6S methodology experience.
  • Experience in large-scale manufacturing or industrial IT environments.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure construction projects.
  • Experience with infrastructure standards, technical drawings, cable schedules, testing documentation, and as-built documentation.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring to junior engineers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: Spartanburg, SC and various locations of the client
  • Schedule: Day shift, 40h/w, weekend as required
  • Overtime: as required
  • Assignment Start: 10/01/2026
  • Assignment End: December 31, 2027, subject to the annual extension review process in 2027.
