We are currently seeking an MTM Expert/ Industrial Engineer for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This role is a contractor position based in Vance, AL, that requires onsite presence. PURPOSE: 
The MTM Expert / Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing, documenting, and optimizing manual assembly processes using Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) and approved time standards. This position supports production and process planning by developing accurate labor-time and staffing requirements, evaluating work content against takt time, and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, line balance, and workstation efficiency.
The role works closely with manufacturing, production, logistics, industrial engineering, and ergonomics teams to ensure that planned and existing assembly processes are practical, efficient, and aligned with production requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze planned and existing manual assembly operations using MTM and approved time standards.
  • Develop and maintain documented work methods, operation sequences, standard work, and standard-time calculations.
  • Evaluate work content against takt time and identify workload imbalances, bottlenecks, and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Provide labor-time, staffing, and capacity inputs to production and process planners.
  • Analyze the impact of product variants, engineering changes, tooling, equipment, and workstation arrangements on assembly time.
  • Support line balancing and optimization of manual assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with production, manufacturing engineering, logistics, and ergonomics teams to develop practical process improvements.
  • Evaluate workstation design and work methods from an efficiency and ergonomic perspective.
  • Validate planning assumptions during trials, pilot builds, and production ramp-up.
  • Update MTM analyses, standard times, and planning documentation as processes change.
  • Communicate time-analysis results and planning assumptions clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify deviations between planned and actual work content and recommend corrective actions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated practical experience applying MTM in automotive assembly or a comparable manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant MTM training or certification.
  • Practical understanding of manual assembly processes and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with standard work, takt time, line balancing, and production planning.


REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 3-7+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing 
  • Strong practical knowledge of Methods-Time Measurement (MTM).
  • Ability to perform, document, explain, and substantiate MTM time analyses.
  • Understanding of manual assembly processes and standard work.
  • Knowledge of takt time, workload balancing, capacity, and labor requirements.
  • Ability to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across production, engineering, logistics, and ergonomics functions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing and production environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Certified MTM Practitioner or MTM Expert.
  • Experience with production launch, ramp-up, or new vehicle programs.
  • Experience analyzing the impact of product variants and engineering changes on labor content.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic assessment and workstation optimization.
  • Experience with manufacturing planning or industrial engineering software.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and international teams.
     
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: Vance, AL
  • Schedule: Full Time/, 40 hours per week / A-shift/ overtime as required
  • Assignment Start: ASAP
