PURPOSE:
The Quality Engineer supports the development of new products by ensuring all customers, TS16949, and regulatory requirements are met, while leading quality planning, PPAP activities, and continuous improvement initiatives in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, customers, and all levels of plant personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead APQP activities and ensure all program deliverables are met.
- Maintain and update Control Plans, PFMEA, and associated quality documentation.
- Conduct statistical studies, analyze data, and drive corrective actions.
- Coordinate problem-solving efforts for internal and external non-conformances.
- Validate dimensional measurements and metrics.
- Set and maintain internal boundary samples; obtain customer sign-off when required.
- Provide timely resolution of customer concerns and quality complaints.
- Participate in customer and external audits (TS16949, ISO14001, etc.).
- Responsible for creating, reviewing and revising quality documentation (PFMEA. Control Plans, Process Flow, Standard Work Instructions, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma/GED required; technical degree/certificate in Quality Engineering preferred (CQE).
- Minimum 3 years of automotive or manufacturing quality engineering experience, including new program launches.
- Strong knowledge of AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
- Hands-on understanding of GD&T, statistics, flow diagrams, and control plans.
- High proficient in measurement tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators.
- Ability to interpret internal procedures, engineering documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of facilitating cross-functional meetings and working collaboratively at all levels.
- High integrity and professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
PREFERED SKILLS
- Expertise in root-cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5-Phase, Drill-Deep methods).
- Experience with sheet metal, dimensional analysis, Class A surface evaluation, and sealer application, particularly in door assemblies.
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
